I feel like as I get older, my taste and style continues to evolve. When I was younger, I loved bright colors and all things pink. I remember buying stuff for college and everything was pink: towels, sheets, plates, bowls and cups; if it was available in pink, I had it.
If I’m being honest, I still love the color pink, but rather than a bright pink, blush and mauve are the hues I’m drawn to most. I’m sure you’ve noticed that in the branding of my blog 🥰. But when it comes to decorating my house, pink is not a color I gravitate toward. One big reason is that my husband would never go for it. But even if he did, I don’t think I would want to decorate the whole house in it. I am, however, totally OK using it as an accent color in spaces like an office.
What I’m loving lately is a rustic meets monochromatic theme. Give me all the black, white/cream and rustic wood tones and I’m a happy girl. It’s such a simple palette and so easy to pull in additional accents when needed.
Our current house doesn’t really have a super cohesive theme. While I have a certain style, I think the rooms each have their own personalities. My goal is to really focus on the house and making it more cohesive. No more brown in this room, gray in this room, red in this room. I want it to look like adults live here! So I’ve been a pinning machine lately, saving ideas for inspiration when we have time and money to pull everything together. A Place to Start: The Kitchen
I started pulling together a wishlist for kitchen supplies and accessories based on this rustic monochromatic theme. There’s seriously so much good stuff that I probably could have made 10 collages – but let’s start with my most immediate wants.

With Christmas around the corner, I’ll likely treat myself to a few of these (or ask for them as gifts, but we don’t do much gift giving anymore). One of my goals for this winter is to purge some of the items I don’t use, so I can certainly make room for some of these beauties.
Make sure you’re checking back in the coming weeks for some exciting news and for some more wishlist and gift guide inspiration for the holidays! I’m so excited about some of the posts I have lined up!
