Happy Monday, friends! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and it was warm where you are. The past several weeks have been crazy as we’ve finally moved into our new build. We’re continuing to get settled so I don’t have many photos to share yet. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy this new Mood Board Monday series!
I love putting together collages for inspiration – whether it be for home decor, kids clothes, adult clothes, etc. Today’s inaugural post will be about the home office. This was one of the spaces of our new home I am most excited to put together. It’s also a space where I know many readers have spent time in the past year with COVID-19. The way I see it, if we have to spend so much time in our home offices, why not make them pretty to look at (as well as functional).
I’m digging neutrals right now so you’ll see a lot of black and white with wood tones appearing on my page. This mood board is just a start for the office since I don’t yet know what I want for decor. I’m contemplating a DIY pinboard’s like this from Farmhouse Living or this from Whitney Blake. I’m also considering adding a comfy reading chair near the window and a small TV but am concerned it might get too busy in the room.

- I saw this desk in so many beautiful offices on Pinterest and knew it was the one that I needed for my new office. It’s a pretty popular desk as I’ve noticed it goes in and out of stock frequently. Funny story – I actually scored this desk on Facebook Marketplace, already assembled and in perfect condition, for two-thirds the price recently. I was almost ready to buy from the store but didn’t want to pay for shipping so opted to wait and see if it came back in stock for in-store pickup. I’m so happy I decided to wait since I saved over $100 and didn’t have to deal with assembling.
- I’ve had the same desk chair for 10 years now so it’s definitely time for an upgrade. My new office has carpet so I don’t necessarily need wheels. I love this chair for its neutral colors and that it swivels so I can easily get up from my desk when I need to.
- I’m all about that organized life these days. When I saw this desk organizer I thought it’d be the perfect addition to keep my notebook and pen collection organized. There’s also a cream version, which is the one I actually have my eye on to break up all the other black accents.
- I’ll always be a paper planner girl. I tried the digital calendars and to-do lists, and it’s just not the same. This daily + monthly planner is my absolute favorite! They also have a weekly + monthly edition if you need need to have each day broken out.
- I LOVE the Target x Studio McGee collaboration and knew I had to have this print for my office. I picked it up last week and am just waiting to find its perfect spot once the space comes together more.
- I’m embarrassed to admit this, but I think I have the same desk accessory set that I used it college. I mean, they still work fine but they don’t really match the aesthetic I’m going for. This matte black set is so simple and pretty that I had to add them.
- Moving from an office with a full closet to one without is definitely proving to be my biggest challenge. The closet space in my old office was great and I kept it pretty organized in various bins and totes. And while a lot of it was arts and crafts for Ivy (that can now be stored in her playroom closet), I’m struggling to find a home for my other stuff. I love the price point for this console but unfortunately it’s currently out of stock. As is like every other decently sized (and priced) black console table that I’ve looked at (I’m looking at you, IKEA!). I’m still linking it because there’s an option to get notified when it comes back in stock, which is exactly what I’ve done!
As I mentioned, I have some more work to do to pull this space together but I’m loving the inspiration I have so far. The biggest item I’m hoping to purchase will be some type of storage so I can get these bins and boxes out of sight. I’m also on the hunt for a nice desk lamp, a full-length mirror (can you believe we don’t own a full-length mirror?!) and a comfy reading chair. If you have any recommendations on any of these items, point me in the right direction for check it out!
